Neurorehabilitation is the process of restoration of
function for persons with disorders of the nervous system. This process
involves strategies aimed at reducing impairments and disabilities, and
ultimately improving participation and quality of life for persons with neurological
disorders. Areas of functioning include mobility, activities of daily living,
and cognitive and communicative abilities. Neurorehabilitative treatments
promote restoration and reorganization of damage in the nervous system and
facilitate compensatory and adaptive strategies to improve functioning.
